Hendricksen recounts the personal history of his Thistle sailboat, BLAC JAC, from its launch in 1946 through successful racing years. The narrative includes his initial reluctance to sail, collaboration with mechanic Bill Sudbrink to achieve excellent finishes, competitive racing at national events, and the boat's evolution from being dismissed as merely a "show piece" to becoming a proven racer.
