The Thistle owners in the Cleveland area organized the Rocky River Thistle Fleet in December 1946, electing Fred Best as captain and Elmo Farger as secretary. The fleet expects to be one of the largest in the Thistle Class Association with ten members already and six more prospects.

Hugh Brady brought his Thistle #16 to Seattle, Washington, where it has impressed local sailors. Roy Elliott sailed it successfully in frostbite races and made a tour from Portland to Eugene, generating interest for three new Pacific Northwest fleets.
