The 1953 National Championship will be held at Racine Y.C. in Wisconsin from August 24-28. Jim Hendricksen selected Racine as the site, and Tony Herrmann will host the event. The regatta will feature five races across three divisions including the Louis Carron National Cup.

About forty-five members of the Central Atlantic Thistle fleet met at Annapolis in November to discuss business matters and plan for the coming season. The group confirmed plans for District Championship races and elected Frank Greenman as District Secretary.

The Atlanta Yacht Club Thistle Fleet 48 held a season-end banquet. The fleet completed 23 official races with ten different first-place winners. N.A. Sinclair led with 189 points, followed by Dan Worley and Jack Beechem. The fleet also hosted the Dixie Invitational Regatta.

Chet Tingler won the Sunshine Regatta in Miami using Omar Right's boat E-CLAN. Eighteen Thistles competed with the largest contingent from Atlanta. Tingler's winning series was 1-2-1 among the top five competitors.
