In light southwest wind, Mike Ingham's team demonstrates good tactical sailing, using wind shifts and boat speed to pass Vlastimil Kunc downwind and take the lead. Solid covering technique holds off Paul's challenge to win the race with Paul finishing second and Barbehenn third.

After wind dies slightly from Race 1, Greg Griffin's team identifies more pressure on the right side of the course. After a general recall, they execute a clean second start and position themselves solidly in the middle of the fleet with strategic options.

With westerly winds setting the windward mark toward the breakwall at St. Pete Sailing Center, Mike Ingham's team starts conservatively and plays the shifting breeze carefully. They manage to overtake Dave VanCleef on the second upwind leg to finish ahead.

Thursday's northeast wind race starts light but tricky with strong current pushing boats over the line, requiring two general recalls before a clean start. Brent Barbehenn's Team Bad Rash rounds first at the windward mark but winds build dramatically to 30 knots, causing multiple boat failures including broken masts and rig damage.

Despite a Friday forecast of 20+ knots building, Paul Abdullah's team seizes favorable starting position in lighter conditions. They take early lead by playing the middle course, but accelerating winds over 20 knots benefit the top competitors in a competitive battle down the runs.
