A meeting of the Governing Board was held on Tuesday, August 20, 1963, at Doug Weith's home to discuss rulings on material and construction changes. The Chief Measurer's rulings were approved and reviewed.

Ned Lockwood won the Naptown to Lockwood race on a twisting course with variable winds. In the first race, Ned was first around the first mark, but eventually lost position before regaining it on the final leg.

Ted Fontelieu won the President's Cup Regatta on the Potomac River with the largest turnout of Chesapeake Bay Thistles in recent years, racing over a 2-mile course with multiple races won convincingly.

The Concho Yacht Club held its fifth Annual Labor Day Regatta at North Concho Lake, Texas with races involving winds and various conditions. The regatta featured multiple races and various participants from different locations.

A scheduled three race series at the Milford Yacht Club's 'Last Chance Regatta' was reduced to a single Saturday race because of 'that cold weather'. In the first and only race, Posey and Frasch were close at the weather mark followed by Schwanhausser and Fligg.

Spike Boston won a three-race series at Port Clinton with consecutive wins. The races featured consistent performances and variable conditions from the fleet competing over the course.

The ninth annual Ohio Valley Sailing Regatta was held on October 12 and 13, sponsored by the Louisville Sailing Club. Fleet 47 was captured by Ned Lockwood with strong performances and a quick maneuver with his Dud McHale to beat his competition.

Larry Haupt of the host club won the Lake Jacomo Sailing Club Labor Day Regatta following with five boats from the Grand Lake, Oklahoma and Fleet and Paul Joy from Hawaii sailing a chartered boat.

Elmer Richards of Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club won the Thistle Regatta held September 21-22 as part of the Northeast Coast Fall Series for Thistles. Richards overcame challenging conditions and competitors to win the final race.

Pete Bordes added another first to his list of sailing wins by outpointing Dennis Posey and Doug MacGregor for the Atlantic Coast Championship at the Squantum Yacht Club on August 3-4 in light air with 5-8 knots wind.

The Lake Norman North Carolina Yacht Club held its first regatta on Saturday, October 4th with clear weather and light winds, featuring five Thistles in Fleet 104 competing in a short series.

Elmer Richards won the Heather Bowl at the Red Dragon Canoe Club on October 12 and 13, competing against thirty-two Thistles from the Banks of the Delaware to win in a light northwesterly breeze.

Fleet 102 enjoyed the hospitality of the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club's 19th annual sailing regatta on August 31st and September 1st, with Joel Epstein leading the way in strong winds.

Larry Haupt won visitors over Eugene English to win the Last Mark trophy at the Eugene English to win the 1963 event of the San Angelo, Texas sailboat event at Lake Jacomo on September 29.

Bob Duff sailed Sea Shell to victory in the Corinthian Yacht Club Regatta in Cold Spring harbor, with the first race Saturday on a light northwesterly over windward, leeward course. Ed Fracker and Pete Flood finished behind him.
